The story of the Tower of Babel in Genesis 11:1-9 speaks to us today about the pride and ambition of humankind. 

A people united to create a tower that would reach the heavens, all driven by an intent to boast of their own achievements. 

In response to this display of pride, God made a personal appearance on Earth. 

Then, to bring an end to man’s arrogance, He “came down” and confused their language, leaving them unable to complete their project. 

His descent served as a reminder both then and now that it is God who rules over our lives and not ourselves. 

Despite many attempts by men to live lives filled with greed, wealth, or any other method of self-aggrandizement, the truth remains that no matter what we accomplish in life, we should never forget one important fact–” The Lord is exalted among the nations!” (Psalm 46:10).

Jeremiah 1:4-19 – The Call of Jeremiah

The call of Jeremiah the prophet is an incredible Bible verse of divine visitation.

After seeing a bush burst into flame, Moses realized this was no ordinary sight – this was an encounter with the divine. 

Recognizing this out-of-the-ordinary experience, he faced the burning bush. Then, he heard the voice of God calling him by name. 

At this point, Moses humbled himself and followed God’s instructions. This encounter marked the beginning of his relationship with God.

Judges 6:11-24 – God visits Gideon in the form of an angel

The angel commanded Gideon to overcome his doubts and trust God’s promises as he embarked on a divine mission to change Israel’s salvation history.

Luke 1:26-38 – God visits Mary and tells her she will give birth to the Messiah

Mary’s angelic visitation was a truly remarkable, once-in-a-lifetime experience. 

According to the book of Luke, God, through his angel Gabriel, chose Mary to bear His son and bring Jesus into the world. 

As a young woman, Mary was an unlikely choice for such an incredible task and she no doubt felt overwhelmed by the gravity of her mission. 

But despite her initial fear and lack of understanding, her faith and courage pulled her through, and she accepted God’s will with conviction. Thus began unraveling an extraordinary prophecy that would, in time, change the lives of generations.

Acts 9:1-9 – Jesus blinds Saul on the road to Damascus

Saul was a murderer and a church persecutor, but his encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus changed everything. 

In Acts 9:1-9 we see how God powerfully visited Saul, leaving him blind for three days to help him realize his sin.

“God Himself will be with them; He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.”

Genesis 28:10-22 – God visits Jacob

Have you ever heard of Jacob and the ladder? It’s a pretty epic story about a dude named Jacob who was going through some family drama and ended up sleeping in the wilderness. 

It’s, honestly, one of my favorite divine visitation bible verses.

While he was sleeping, God showed up in his dream and gave him a vision of a ladder reaching up to Heaven with angels going up and down. 

God speaks to Jacob and promises to always be with him, protect him wherever he goes, and give Jacob many descendants.

When Jacob wakes up, he’s like, “Whoa, God was just here!” So he sets up the stone he used as a pillow as a memorial. 

He promises God that if He keeps His promise, Jacob will give back to God by building a temple.

This story reminds us that God is always with us, no matter where we go or what we’re going through. He speaks to and makes promises to us, just like He did with Jacob. 

He also shows us that our response to His visit should be one of faith and gratitude, as Jacob set up a memorial and made a promise to God.

So, remember that even in the darkest and most unexpected places, God can visit you and speak to you directly; your response should be of faith and gratitude.

Joshua 5:13-15 – God visits Joshua

Joshua 5:13-15 is a compelling and significant passage of scripture, showing how divine encounters can occur unexpectedly.

It affirms God’s divine sovereignty, of His being actively involved with His people. 

In the passage, Joshua encounters a mysterious figure who is the commander of the Lord’s army – divinely sent to remind Joshua that victory will come, as agreed with God and promised to his ancestors.

Remarkably, this visitation appears in an earthly form, a man with a sword coming right in the middle of battle preparations! 

The sight of him so awed Joshua that he fell down on his face, worshiping God in recognition of his divine presence. The scene serves as a reminder to all believers today: God visits us even when we least expect it. He calls us to acknowledge Him, be strong and courageous in our faith and trust Him for whatever He has planned before us.

Isaiah 6:1-8 – God visits Isaiah

Isaiah 6:1-8 tells the story of when God visits the prophet, Isaiah. 

Isaiah was in a place of worship and heard a voice from above calling his name. He saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up. His train filled the temple, and spiritual beings cried, “Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty!” 

They spoke of His glory, power, and holiness that could not be contained in any other way than by His presence. Slowly, God’s words echoed throughout the temple, saying, “Whom shall I send? Who will go for me?” 

With faith and obedience, Isaiah answered, “Here I am; send me!” 

This moment marked the start of an epic journey for Isaiah as he was chosen to spread God’s word throughout all of Israel. The lesson from this passage is clear—God is always looking for us to answer His call so we can join Him on the incredible journey ahead.

Ezekiel 1:1-3:15 – God visits Ezekiel

In Ezekiel 1:1-3:15, God visits the prophet Ezekiel in a spectacular divine visitation.

Ezekiel describes a vision of four living creatures with four wings and glowing eyes. They are moving forward guided by the Spirit of God. 

Above these creatures is a throne from which comes a likeness of four wings and fire sparking off them. 

This is Yahweh entering the scene—the Divine One bringing glory and holiness that cannot be contained in any other way than through his presence.

Luke 2:8-20 – God Visits the Wise Men

In Luke 2:8-20, we read about an encounter with God that forever changed the lives of 3 wise men.  

An angel appeared to them, announcing that a Savior had been born. 

The wise men, also known as the Magi, brought gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh to baby Jesus. 

Gold symbolizes Jesus’ kingship, frankincense symbolizes his priestly role, and myrrh symbolizes his death and burial. 

These gifts were brought to Jesus by the wise men who followed a star to find him in Jerusalem and were guided by King Herod to the place where Jesus was living with his parents. 

This story reminds us that God can show up in our lives unexpectedly, but He is always worth seeking out. No matter who we are or what we are doing, if we seek Him, He will move into our lives and lead us to unexpected blessings.

John 1:14 God visits the world through Jesus.

In John 1:14, the Bible tells us that “the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory.” This is a profound statement that reveals how God uniquely visited our world. Through Jesus Christ, God made Himself known to humanity in an intimate, personal way. As divine visitation incarnate, Jesus was God dwelling among us as man. 

Jesus’ purpose for visiting our world was to reveal the Love of God to all people. 

We are reminded that by sending His only begotten son, God extended the invitation of salvation from sin to all who would accept it. 

Through coming down to earth in human form, Jesus could connect with us on a level, and only He could be the bridge, through His blood, to reconciliation with the Father.

When we see the simple truth of this story found in the Bible’s Gospel of John, we can respond with joy and thankfulness for what it means for us today. 

Knowing that Jesus is just like any other person but much more than anyone can move us closer to Him and away from fear or feelings of insignificance. 

It encourages us to keep walking towards Him no matter how far or dark our path may seem through faith and trust in His promise of unfailing Love and unwavering grace.
