What does the fire of God feel like?

What does the Fire of God feel like?

Have you ever felt the electrifying embrace of a power greater than yourself?

It’s like being transported to another realm that is not bound by earthly laws. Instead, this heavenly force sears your entire body with relentless and powerful heat. There are no words for it, only awe-inspiring “God power” radiating from within.

Feeling God’s Fire is like being immersed in a wave of power and awe. You can feel it from the top of your head to the tips of your toes–it even radiates through specific body parts such as fingertips or palms!

This Fire allows us to truly experience Jesus, inspiring adoration and love. It’s a profound transformation that cannot be put into words.

What does the Fire of God feel like?

The Fire of God can manifest differently as warmth, light, and burning sensations. It is a spiritual sensation that can be felt physically. To some, it’s a warm, comforting sensation they think everywhere. Others feel it as a burning or tingling feeling in a body part, like hot hands or legs.

My Encounter With The Fire of God

I was blessed to participate in a prayer meeting with some guys in a discipleship house. We sang songs like “Baptize My Heart” and “All Consuming Fire” by Misty Edwards. After everyone left the room, I stayed behind to keep worshipping God.

Suddenly, as I sang “Baptize My Heart” again, I felt an intense heat burning all over my body and inside me. Somehow I knew an angel was in the room, and I understood it was the Fire of God.

It was very hot and intense. It seemed everywhere – on my head, arms, feet, and especially in the middle of my chest. I could tell it was an amazing experience that I would never forget.

At that time, I had been struggling with some stuff, but this encounter with the Fire of God changed everything for me immediately. The Fire set me free and got rid of all the lies from the enemy weighing me down.

Your Experience May Be Different

Now there are various gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are multiple activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. Each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. Corinthians 12:4-7

The gifts given to us by God are diverse. The Fire of God’s spirit is no exception. Therefore, every individual can have a different experience with this.

I think asking God for his Holy Spirit fire to burn in your life is important. No matter what, you feel it and have a powerful encounter with it or not. If you keep asking and keep waiting, you probably will.

The Fire of God can manifest itself in various ways, such as through physical sensations like heat, Fire, or warmth, or even having hot hands during prayer (which I believe is often connected to a gift of healing).

When a person does feel it, it signifies that the Holy Spirit is present and active–and might want to do something through you.

It is important to remember that God’s Fire is not limited to a physical feeling. Feeling the Fire and the other pleasures of God are great–but the end goal is our sanctification, growing in the fruit of the Spirit, and learning to walk in and abide in the love of Christ.

How Do You Receive the Fire of God?

  1. Surrender your whole life to Jesus
  2. Have the desire to be further purified
  3. Seek God with your whole heart
  4. Obey God’s Word & the teachings of Jesus
  5. Ask God for the baptism of Fire
  6. Find a church with the Fire of God active
  7. Have someone with the Fire of God pray for it and lay hands on you

You can encounter the baptism of the Holy Spirit and the baptism of Fire without someone laying hands on you–but it is much easier–and takes a lot less waiting–if there is someone to pray and impart this to you.

The baptism of the Holy Spirit and Fire is a powerful experience that can only be received by those who have repented, turned away from their sins, and committed their lives to follow Jesus and His teachings.

The Laying on of Hands

The Holy Spirit, Fire, and spiritual gifts are often transferred from one individual to another through the laying of hands.

Bible verses on the laying on of hands:

  • Acts 19:1-7
  • Hebrews 6:2
  • 1 Timothy 4:14
  • 2 Timothy 1:6

What does the Fire of God do to you?

The Fire of God symbolizes purification and refinement, purifying us from all unrighteousness and making us more like Jesus Christ. The Fire of God serves to refine us, burning away the impurities and trash in our lives so that we may be more pure and holy.

The Fire of God is often associated with refinement and purification in the Bible. For example, in Malachi 3:2-3, the prophet speaks of a coming “refiner’s fire” and “fuller’s soap” that will purify the people of God.

Similarly, in Isaiah 4:4, the Lord speaks of a coming day when He will “purge” His people “with fire.”

We, believers, are called to walk the narrow path – a difficult and often painful journey. But God’s Fire is there to light our way, just as it did during the time of Moses when He led the Israelites through the wilderness by night. The Fire of God is a guide, helping us stay on track and remain true to His Word.

The Fire of God Burns Up the Old Man

As we draw near to God, the Holy Spirit convicts us of our sins and helps us to see the areas of our lives that are not in line with His will. The Holy Spirit then consumes these sinful desires as we obey him and purifies us from all unrighteousness.

Through this process of refinement, we are transformed into the image of Christ. It helps us to put off the old self, which is corrupted by deceitful desires, and to put on the new self, which is created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness (Ephesians 4:22-24).

We Become Like Jesus

As we submit ourselves to the refinement process and allow it to consume every area of our lives, we become more and more like Jesus and go from glory to glory and strength to strength (Psalm 87:7 ESV).

The Fire of the Holy Spirit helps us become more like Jesus. That’s the goal. It also helps us reach the lost and walk in the power of God–but the purity it produces and the intimacy with Jesus are most precious.

Through the “refiners finer” process and the burning up of the old man, God helps us to mature in character, grow in humility, and to shine in purity.

The Fire of God Equips us to Walk the Narrow Path.

This purification is only sometimes comfortable. The Fire of the Holy Spirit can be uncomfortable, even painful, as it burns away the things in our lives that are not of God. But we must become like Jesus.

This refinement is needed if we are to walk on the narrow path (Matthew 7:13-14) that many refuse to follow.

Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy[a] that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few

Matthew 7:13-14

I am speaking of emotional discomfort. The physical manifestation of Fire is often a pleasant experience. I am not speaking of physical pain just F.Y.I–but a nuisance to the ego, the old man, the flesh.

It’s tough giving up the addictions and things we’ve used to numb ourselves to the presence of God, but it’s so worth it!

The Narrow Path Leads to the Pleasures of God

Suppose we submit to God’s process, even though it hurts. In that case, we open ourselves up to the supernatural pleasures of God, including encountering the Fire of God, the seer realm, divine visitation, etc.

The narrow path is the same path David wrote about:

You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Psalm 16:11

It took me years before I made the connection. I experienced this first, then noticed it while writing an article one day. Pretty amazing.

We can experience the pleasures of God today! Not limited to the Fire, but other types of encounters as well. As we seek and look to Jesus and ask for encounters, he gives them to us–individually–when and how he sees fit.

I can promise you, though, if you seek, you will find. If you haven’t experienced the pleasures of God, Fire, ecstatic love, power, etc.–keep pressing into God. Keep surrendering areas of your life over to him. Fast, pray, read–and more importantly-DO, His Word.

Don’t just be a hearer only (James 1:22).

Having encounters with the pleasures of God are what will sustain us in the days of trouble that are ahead. So keep seeking, keep asking, and keep pressing through in prayer!

Holy Spirit is a Person

The Holy Spirit is the Fire; yes, angels can minister Fire. However, the Holy Spirit is not just a force or energy but a person. He is the third person of the Trinity, co-equal with the Father and the Son.

Just as Fire is a powerful and transformative force in the natural world, the Holy Spirit is a powerful and transformative force in the spiritual realm.

For the Lord, your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.” This verse describes God as a consuming fire, representing His power, justice, and wrath against sin.

Deuteronomy 4:24: “

Peter compares the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives to refining gold or silver. Just as the metal is heated and the impurities are burned away, so is the Fire of the Holy Spirit that burns away the impurities in our lives.

so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by Fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ

1 Peter 1:7

Bible Verses on the Fire of God

The Bible speaks of the Fire of God in many different ways.

Malachi 3:2, “But who can endure the day of his coming, and who can stand when he appears? For he is like a refiner’s Fire and like fullers’ soap.”

This verse speaks of the purifying power of the Fire of God. It is like a refiner’s Fire that burns away the impurities, leaving only pure gold.

Leviticus 9:24 – “And Fire came out from before the Lord and consumed the burnt offering and the fat on the altar. And when all the people saw it, they shouted and fell on their faces.”

This verse illustrates the power and holiness of God, as He consumed the offering on the altar with Fire as a sign of acceptance.

Deuteronomy 4:24 – “For the Lord, your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.” This verse highlights God’s jealousy of His people and His desire for their complete devotion. The imagery of a consuming fire emphasizes God’s passion for His people.

Isaiah 6:6-7 – “Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth and said: ‘Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for.’

This verse illustrates the purifying work of God through the imagery of burning coal, symbolizing the removal of sin and guilt.

Ezekiel 1:27 – “And upward from what had the appearance of his waist I saw as it were gleaming metal, like the appearance of Fire enclosed all around. And downward from what had the
